Fitting Ai into a prominent Facility role has been difficult, namely because of her lack of powers, lack of proper technology/equipment to utilize her intelligence, and overall lack of motivation. In her world, she has a goal of creating the antidote to APTX 4869, but here, that effort is pointless if she can't bring the data back to her home world. Any experiments with the chemicals and shoddy equipment set up in her room are to stave off boredom. In her world, she has to hide from the Black Organization, but here, the chief threat--the Consortium--is untouchable, does all, and knows all (though there's some doubt in that last point).

The secondary threat is the number of superpowered beings that make up the majority of Facility subjects. Many of these are good, so Ai would be inclined to seek help from them, but not in any overt, demonstrative way. She simply avoids the ones that are evil; she's unsure what she would still be willing to do for the sake of self-preservation, if threatened, but it's not much. Because of these factors, she also has little motivation to socialize or create an antidote for herself, since her small size tends to deflect unwanted attention; despite her cynicism, she wants to leave open the possibility that she'll return to Beika, and so preserves her size and her secret.

In general, Ai's attitude toward her new "home" is one of despair, inspiring flawed attempts to establish normalcy. Death is not permanent unless the Consortium tires of the subject, and deep down she would rather not seek that anyway, so suicide is out. Her survival by amputation of necrotizing fasciitis ("flesh-eating" bacteria) and her Kira-induced heart attack have cured her of some fear of death, though. Kuroba Kaito/Kaitou Kid and his would-be, rejected childhood friend/"girlfriend" are here, which breaks some of the natural isolation she feels. Since they are her only connection with her world and physically resemble Kudou and Ran, she instinctively wants to seek their good, too. Though Kuroba's reckless, immature behavior irritates her to no end, she now knows he's a victim of the Organization and feels sympathetic toward him.

Ai has made a few acquaintances in Reishun, Rufus, and Sebastian. Though superpowered, Reishun reminds Ai of Ayumi, and as such is a little sister figure she wants to protect--with sage advice, if nothing else. Rufus and Sebastian are classier among the plethora of same-sex attracted men she's met in the Facility; it's a factor she's pleased with, since no matter her size, it leaves her in peace. She also has respect for the responsible medics, such as Tsunade, Sakura, and Ino; she grew in affinity with them back in the necrotizing fasciitis test. There are a few others she likes/tolerates, such as Komui, who's overprotective of his little sister and one of the few who's amusingly alarmed by her adult knowledge, Alphonse, who is innocent and very helpful, and Mello, who is too dangerous to be around but shares her spirit.

Future activity will continue this trend of staying on the sidelines, unless another medical disaster occurs. As the monotonous days wear on and Ai becomes familiar with the other subjects, a small desire for relationships will grow in her. Her default activities are still to putter around her room, experimenting and typing her observations into her faciliberry, combined with healthy strolls around the biodome, trips to the cafeteria to maintain her room's stockpile of nutrition bars--she's faced one starvation test too many--and sitting in a corner of the entertainment area, flipping through old books and magazines. Her most prized possession to date, other than her useless disk of APTX 4869 data, is the powder blue Kenneth Cole bag Rufus found in Manhattan.
